Member of Parliament Machok Majong Jong has vowed to stand firm on his motion summoning Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel to appear before the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA), despite alleged attempts to pressure him into abandoning it.

The motion, submitted to the Speaker’s office, accuses Dr. Bol Mel, Vice President for the Economic Cluster, of 13 counts related to governance failures, security concerns, financial mismanagement, and misuse of public resources.

Hon. Machok confirmed he authored the motion and is prepared to proceed once it is approved by Parliament.

He disclosed that since submitting the motion, he has received numerous calls, including some attempting to question his integrity or influence his decision through bribery.

“Don’t dream of me being bribed to turn down this motion. Let them write whatever they want—maybe they don’t know me, but I know myself,” he stated firmly.

While stopping short of making definitive promises, Machok assured the public of his resolve.

“I cannot promise the people of South Sudan just yet, but I am confident that I will achieve my goal. Let us be patient and wait for Parliament to approve the motion,” he added.

If approved, the motion could mark a significant moment in legislative oversight and accountability within the economic cluster of the government.

The office of Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel is yet to respond on the allegation against him which the member of parliament listed.
