The Office of the President has announced changes among senior officials, including the relief of Ambassador David Amour from his position as Press Secretary and Hon. Valentino Dhel Malueth from his role as Chief Administrator.

According to a letter seen by Doran Media, Hon. Marik Nanga Marik has been appointed as the new Chief Administrator in the Office of the President. The appointment of a new Press Secretary is yet to be announced, the letter noted.

The Office of the President also statement that appointment of Press Secretary is pending which dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging that journalists from the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) Rejoice Samson had been appointed to the Presidency’s Press Office.

The changes come a day after the Office of the President acknowledged an error in the appointment of a deceased individual to the election committee a move that attracted widespread public criticism.

On Monday, the Press Secretary in the Office of the President issued a statement clarifying the mistake, attributing the error to parties who submitted the name from other signatories to the peace agreement.

The Office has not yet announced further details regarding corrective measures or additional appointments.
