The Electoral Committee for Civil Society Organizations in Upper Nile State has officially announced the start of its electoral campaigns for the upcoming elections, which will select candidates for seven executive positions.
The Secretary General of the Electoral Commission and Chairman of the Human Rights Commission in the state, Honorable Peter Nguac, confirmed that the submission of candidate applications and lists began on January 30, 2025, and will continue until February 2, 2025.
“We are pleased to announce that the election for these key positions will take place on February 8, 2025.
The results will be revealed on the same day in the presence of distinguished guests, including representatives from international organizations such as the UN Mission’s Rule of Law Office, the Office of Human Rights and Civil Affairs, and the Government of Upper Nile State, as well as media representatives from the state.”
“We call on both international and national organizations to support this electoral process, which is critical for the success of civil society organizations in Upper Nile State. We also appeal to the government to ensure the safety and protection of all involved in the electoral process.
