In a tragic incident, a soldier from the National Security Service, Gabriel Khamis Juma, was found dead in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State, under mysterious circumstances.
The soldier, stationed with the Operations Unit, was found dead on Monday morning in the Aweil Jadeed neighborhood.
Major Santino Udol, spokesperson for the Western Bahr el Ghazal State Police, confirmed the suicide and assured that investigations are underway to determine the cause.
He also urged members of the organized forces to seek support from their colleagues when facing personal challenges.
“It is important for everyone, especially in the armed forces, to share their problems with others. Suicide is not the solution. We encourage our officers to seek help and avoid taking such drastic measures.”
This marks the second suicide in Wau this year, with another incident occurring earlier this month, when Major Pasquale Anthony Nasser of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces also took his own life.
“Every member of the organized forces plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and security. We must support each other to prevent such tragic outcomes,” Udol added.
