A political analyst and lecturer at the University of Bahr el Ghazal, Joseph Lual Dario, has called on parties involved in peace negotiations in Kenya to prioritize the interests of citizens and the nation.
Mr. Lual Dario urged the government and opposition delegations participating in the Tumahini peace talks to embrace patriotism and focus on the collective welfare of the country rather than individual or political gains.
“The interests of the citizens and the nation must come first. Power struggles should not overshadow the urgent need for economic, political, and social stability,” he emphasized.
The analyst appealed to all South Sudanese to foster unity, compromise, and mutual understanding to pave the way for national development.
The Tumahini peace talks resumed this week in Nairobi, Kenya, with mediators facilitating discussions between government representatives and opposition groups. Lual Dario stressed the importance of constructive dialogue and accepting feasible solutions to overcome the country’s ongoing challenges.
“Saving the country requires sacrifice and compromise. Let us prioritize the public interest and work together for a better future,” he concluded.
The peace talks are expected to focus on critical issues affecting the region, including economic recovery, political reforms, and social cohesion.
