The National Police Service has announced a series of major transfers and appointments following a directive from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gen. Abraham Manyuat Peter.
The reshuffle, which affects several senior officers across the country, is aimed at strengthening police operations and improving service delivery.
Among the key changes, the Director of Traffic Police, Gen. Kon John Akot, has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State. He will be succeeded by Gen. John Baak, who previously served as the Police Commissioner of Bor.
According to the police headquarters, a total of 13 generals has been reassigned from their previous duty stations.
The reshuffle includes top officers within the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Traffic Police, Police Health Services, and several State Police Commissioner positions.
While the directive has been officially communicated, sources within the police indicate that some senior officers have expressed resistance to the new transfer orders. However, the National Police Service has not yet issued an official statement addressing the reported discontent.
The Inspector General’s office has described the move as part of ongoing institutional reforms intended to enhance professionalism, accountability, and efficiency within the force.
