South Sudan journalists Veronica Lucy Gordon has been named one of Africa’s 100 Most Influential Women by the African Women Awards Ethiopia 2024. This prestigious recognition celebrates her remarkable contributions to the media landscape and her leadership in empowering women in the industry.
Gordon is the first female member of the Executive Board of the Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Association for Media Women in South Sudan (AMWISS). Her dedication to advancing media professionalism and amplifying women’s voices has left an indelible mark on South Sudan’s media sector.
The award, announced in September as part of the “SHE ACHIEVERS NETWORK,” acknowledges women across Africa who exemplify outstanding leadership, inspire change, and build strong professional and societal relationships.
Veronica received her award during a grand Red Carpet Gala ceremony held at the HYATT REGENCY in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on November 26, 2024. The event celebrated her accomplishments with a plaque and certificate, honoring her influence in a gathering of Africa’s most inspiring female leaders.
