President Salva Kiir Mayardit has officially sworn in Ambassador Bol Wek Agoth as the new Governor of Warrap State, in a renewed effort to restore peace and stability in the troubled region.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Kiir urged the people of Tonj and the greater Warrap community to embrace the new governor with open hearts and to support his leadership in rebuilding peace.
“Let us give Governor Bol our full support so that together we can end the cycle of violence and restore harmony in Warrap,” President Kiir said.
Governor Bol Wek Agoth pledged to make peacebuilding, law enforcement, and the reestablishment of local governance his top priorities. He also appealed to Warrap natives living in Juba to serve as ambassadors of peace for their home state.
The appointment of Governor Bol is seen as part of President Kiir’s broader strategy to address persistent insecurity in Warrap, a region that has long suffered from inter-communal violence and weak rule of law. Warrap State transited from Military to civilian rule with appointment of Amb. Bol Wek Agoth as the new governor replaced Lt. Gen. Magok Magok.
