Juba, South Sudan – The first Resident Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan, His Grace Seamus Patrick, has called on young people to embody Christian values in their everyday lives.
Speaking during Comboni Day celebrations at St. Theresa Cathedral in Juba, he encouraged the youth who received the sacrament of confirmation to remain focused and live out their faith in daily activities.
“Young people should remain conscious in their daily lives, staying true to their goals and embracing Christian principles,” the Nuncio said, addressing over 100 confirmands.
Fr. Gabriel Asida, the parish priest of St. Theresa Cathedral, thanked the Apostolic Nuncio for participating in the celebration. He urged teachers to continue teaching meaningful history that reinforces faith and guides the lives of South Sudanese people.
Quoting St. Daniel Comboni, Fr. Asida emphasized, “We should continue to live by his words: ‘Save Africa with Africa.’ Following this principle will help develop African nations.”
St. Daniel Comboni, an Italian Catholic missionary, is celebrated for his work in Africa and for founding the Comboni Missionaries and Comboni Missionary Sisters. His legacy continues to inspire African believers. His feast day is marked on October 10 each year.
