Mundri, WES – The Diocese of Mundri has inaugurated the Mundri Vocational Training Centre (MVTC), a transformative initiative designed to equip young people in the greater Mundri area with essential technical and vocational education and training (TVET) skills.

Developed in partnership with Finn Church Aid (FCA) and funded by UNESCO, the center represents a significant step towards empowering the youth and enhancing their livelihoods in a region marked by economic challenges.

An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to launch a three-month training program, offering a variety of courses, including Carpentry and Joinery, Soap Making, Hairdressing, Agriculture, Beekeeping, and basic Literacy & Numeracy.

The program has attracted over 170 youths from Mvolo, Mundri East, and Mundri West Payams, providing them with the opportunity to acquire valuable skills that can lead to self-employment and sustainable development.

The opening ceremony, held in Mundri West County, was presided over by the Diocesan Bishop of Mundri, Rt. Rev. Bismark M. Avokaya.

In his keynote address, Bishop Avokaya urged the participants to commit wholeheartedly to the training, stressing the importance of vocational skills in fostering personal growth and community development.

“Work hard, stay focused, and embrace the skills you will learn here,” Bishop Avokaya said. “Your dedication will not only improve your lives but also contribute to the progress of the entire community.”

The MVTC is staffed with 14 teaching professionals, including a principal and deputy principal, all committed to delivering high-quality, hands-on instruction.

A board of governors and an active Centre Management Committee oversee the daily operations, ensuring that the center runs smoothly and efficiently.

As the first cohort of trainees embarks on their educational journey, the local community is encouraged to rally behind MVTC’s mission to empower the youth.

Joseph Napoleon Emmanuel, one of the TVET instructors, expressed optimism about the center’s long-term impact.

“Together, we can uplift our community by investing in the education and skills of our youth. This initiative is critical for the future of Mundri,” he noted.

MVTC marks a significant milestone in providing the youth of Mundri with the tools they need to secure better futures and make meaningful contributions to their society.

Through this initiative, the center aims to create a new generation of skilled individuals ready to lead their communities toward a brighter, more prosperous future.
