
Leaders of SOuth Sudan Council of Churches met with President Salva Kiir on Wednesday, urging the government and opposition forces to embrace peace for the stability of South Sudan.
His Eminence Stephen Cardinal Ameyu Martin the Archbishop of Juba together with Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Dr. Justin Badi Arama, called on all parties to prioritize peace, emphasizing that the Church will continue engaging stakeholders to ensure long-term stability.
The clerics appealed to armed groups to abandon conflict and embrace dialogue to prevent the country from sliding back into war. President Kiir reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace, vowing that South Sudan will not return to war under his leadership.

In a show of unity, the President and church leaders concluded their meeting with prayers for peace, stability, and national reconciliation.
Church leaders also met Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel and discussed on advancing peace, reconciliation, and national stability through sustained dialogue among South Sudanese leaders.
The Vice President reiterated the Government’s commitment to partnering with religious institutions in service to the people, especially in key areas such as education and healthcare.
He acknowledged the essential role of religious organizations in uniting the nation, championing peace, appraising development, addressing the challenges facing communities, and providing moral leadership.
