Religious leaders from South Sudan are in Kenya, where they held talks with President William Ruto to discuss and reinforce ongoing initiatives aimed at advancing the South Sudan peace process.
Their visit underscores the crucial role faith-based leaders play in promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and long-term regional stability.
President Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to supporting all regional efforts that uphold peace, stability, and democratic governance.
“We stand firm in our belief that a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan is essential for the progress of our region, and we will continue to work with partners to advance dialogue, nation-building, and long-term stability,” he said.
The President noted that he met with the South Sudan Council of Churches at State House Nairobi, where the delegation briefed him on the situation in South Sudan and called for enhanced support toward peace efforts, political dialogue, the constitution-making process, and preparations ahead of the December 2026 elections.
Ruto pledged to continue working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that South Sudan remains on the path of reconciliation, unity, and democratic progress for the benefit of its people and the wider region.
