The Central Equatoria State government has firmly dismissed circulating social media rumors alleging plans to relocate the state capital from Juba to Yei River County.

In an official statement issued by the Office of Governor Augustino Jadalla Kamilo, the government clarified that no directive or decision has been made—either at the state or national level—to move the state capital.

“The allegations circulating are entirely false, baseless, and politically motivated,” the statement read. “Governor Jadalla has never been involved in any discussions, agreements, or endorsements regarding such a relocation.”

The governor’s office also denounced claims suggesting the move was part of a larger scheme to enable land grabbing or displace indigenous communities in Juba.

“These rumors are designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary fear and tension,” Governor Jadalla stated. “There is no truth to the claim that I am being coerced into such a scheme.”

The statement called on citizens, stakeholders, and media houses to disregard the misinformation and instead focus on verified facts.

“We urge the public to reject such narratives with the utmost discontent. The governor remains committed to serving with integrity and to maintaining the unity and stability of Central Equatoria State,” the statement concluded.
