The Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), Mr. Edmond Yakani, has called on the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State (WES) to prioritize fostering social cohesion within the region. Hon. Richard Badagbu the deputy Governor of Western Equatoria was sworn in this week.
Speaking earlier today, Mr. Yakani congratulated Honourable Badagbu on his appointment by the Government of South Sudan and emphasized the need for unity among communities.
“As you assume the role of Deputy Governor, my primary appeal is for you to focus on promoting social cohesion, especially considering recent tensions and divisions within the communities of WES. This should be a top priority,” said Mr. Yakani.
He also urged Honourable Badagbu to ensure political stability within the region, particularly among parties entrusted with governance under the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
In addition to extending his support, the South Sudanese activist pledged to collaborate with Honourable Badagbu and other deputy governors across the country.
“Your task is to ensure peace and stability for the people of Western Equatoria. The community looks to you to secure protection and foster lasting peace,” he stressed.
Honorable Richard Badagbu was appointed as Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State on Tuesday by the President of South Sudan.
His appointment was publicly announced by the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation, where it was confirmed that he would be succeeding Elia Richard Box.
