A strong understanding of what makes a story newsworthy and the ability to identify and report on relevant, timely, and impactful news events.
Skilled in conducting thorough research and verifying facts before publication. Familiarity with reliable sources and how to corroborate information. Ability to work under tight deadlines and adjust to rapidly changing news environments.
Willingness to cover a wide range of topics, including breaking news, features, and investigative reports. A strong network of sources and contacts within relevant industries or sectors.Â
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with sources for ongoing news gathering. Commitment to journalistic ethics, including fairness, accuracy, and impartiality. Respect for confidentiality and the responsible handling of sensitive information.
For Opinion Writers
Ability to craft well-reasoned, persuasive, and engaging opinion pieces and proficiency in structuring arguments logically and supporting them with evidence. In-depth knowledge of specific topics or fields that the writer frequently covers.
Ability to provide unique insights and informed opinions on current issues. A distinctive writing style and voice that resonates with readers. Ability to present fresh perspectives on common issues or controversial topics.Ability to analyze complex issues and present them in a clear, understandable manner. Skill in dissecting arguments, counterarguments, and various perspectives. Competence in researching to back up opinions with credible data, studies, or expert quotes.
