The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has strongly dismissed widespread rumors circulating on social media alleging the death of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Several online bloggers and personal social media accounts falsely reported on Wednesday evening that President Salva Kiir had died, without providing any details about the alleged cause. The motive behind the spread of this misinformation remains unclear.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry categorically described the reports as “false, malicious, and baseless.” It reassured the South Sudanese public, regional partners, and the international community that the President is alive, in good health, and actively performing his national duties.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit is alive, well, and fully engaged in the service of the nation. He continues to discharge his presidential responsibilities with strength, commitment, and focus,” the statement read.

The Ministry condemned the deliberate spread of misinformation, calling it an attempt to incite panic and destabilize the country.

“Such fake news only serves the agenda of those who wish to undermine South Sudan’s sovereignty, peace, and progress,” the Ministry added.

Officials urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, emphasizing the importance of responsible communication, especially on social media platforms.

“These fabricated claims are the work of enemies of peace, stability, and national unity. We call on citizens to disregard these rumors and rely only on official channels for credible information.”

The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring national stability, peace implementation, and the continued advancement of public welfare.
